Hyacinth on my windowsill - this was the first thing I saw when I opened my curtains
this morning, it made me hopeful that it really maybe *might* be nearly Spring!
This week has felt really busy, and it's only Thursday and I don't even have much to show for it! Don't you hate weeks like that? I place the blame firmly on Folksy and trying to get to grips with a New Web Thing. Also, there are forums, and well, don't get me started on places where you can hang out and talk...I swear time flows differently there!
Speaking of New Web Things, I also managed to get back into Pinterest - I decided for 2013 to spring clean my online world as well as my physical world (still on that, see above about all my time disappearing right in front of my eyes! ;) and deleted all my old boards, pins I don't look at etc. I am starting from scratch, so thought it would be the ideal time to connect with any other/new Pinners. I love the search function, and have mostly just been using Pinterest like a visiual "google" - for inspiration, recipes, projects to try...but I want to use it a bit more constructively and a bit less like yet another time suck.
Are we sensing a running theme to this blog post? I'm afraid it's just going to be a bit wittery and random, that's how I'm feeling today - but I decided I had had enough with blogging in any sort of formal way. The blogs I like best are the ones that feel like hanging out with friends, and my friends will be the first to tell you I run on about whatever it is I'm thinking about at that moment.
Like, last night I went to see Lincoln - and whilst I have to confess being mildly disappointed with the film itself (I preferred Amazing Grace, there, I said it) I was blown away by Daniel Day Lewis' portrayal of Abraham Lincoln, and it was really encouraging and inspiring to remember he was a real man who told stories and got to know people, not just a figurehead or a statue or an icon. It also made me so sad to not be studying any more. One of my favourite modules at Uni was on the Antebellum South, The Civil War and Reconstruction...I would so love to pick up my history studies again, but I just don't think my eyes would stand the volume of reading. Maybe one day.
Anyway, I have promised myself today I am going to start my Cleaning (I am trying to decide whether it's late-running "New Year" declutter or if I'm early for "Spring Cleaning". The latter makes me feel better ;) I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! What's on your mind at the moment?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the movie "Lincoln" which I haven't seen yet. I saw so many movies from October to December that I needed a bit of a movie break.
ReplyDeleteOn my mind at the moment is wishing I was more mobile as I've got things to do, people to see, lol. But, since I am at home, I really feel the need to get more done around the apartment too. More decluttering. I don't call it New Year's or Spring Cleaning. It's a major declutter project that I've been doing for about a year and a half. I thought I was finished except for paperwork and photos but I see now that there is more to get rid of. Also giving thought to so many little renos that need doing.*sigh.
Oh I know what you mean, decluttering is an ongoing project for me too!
DeleteI'm so sorry you are still having mobility problems, I saw from your blog that your knee is still causing you bother :( Will be praying xx
I adore the smell of hyacinths - it is so heady and sweet.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the Lincoln trailer and thought I must go (YET) I travel to NZ family yearly (40 hours door to door) and watch endless films there and back (may be as many as twenty each year)so feel that I may wait until next trip. The films are always excellent and there is always good choice.
What are my plans? - to try and finish so many things around the house, which is full of new unfinished craft.
Oh, I know - I haven't flown much (so it's still kind of a novelty to me ;) but one of my favourite thing on long flights is the movies. haha! I do think it's worth a watch, but think it's not necessarily a "cinema" movie, you know?
DeleteGood luck getting your jobs done! I hear you on the unfinished crafts, I have so many projects I am halfway through! I get bored easily...!
