I just saw Les Miserables today - I was saying to my housemate yesterday that Ive be looking forward to this coming out since I first heard the very vaguest of vague rumblings that Hugh Jackman was potentially involved in a possible film version of the musical...and, having seen a few diffent productions of it a time or two, well, I was exited. And a little nervous. But? It's good, guys. It's beyond good. I am already counting the days until I can see it again. And listening to the Original London Cast Recording on a loop in the meantime.
I love how much grace is in it. Redemption and grace and second chances. Javert's "worldly" logic being turned on its head by mercy. And I love the music. Oh, I love the music! {spoiler alert: from the end of the 10th Anniversary Concert}
So a few other highlights from this week...
Jenn at Give a Hoot, Read a Book compares the book and film versions of Anne of Green Gables - I love this idea, and I actually think the first Anne film is fairly close to the book. I also am totaly jealous that Jenn gets to read all the Avonlea books for the first time. You are in for such a treat, lady!
I have been busy knitting and crocheting things for my Folksy shop, now I just ned a day with good (ha!) light to take some photos and I'll be up and running. Soon, soon.
New Cabin Pressure! - I am forever grateful to Wonderful E for getting me hooked on this in the first place. Huge amounts of win.
This is an old find from my brother, but seems apt ;) I proper love How I Met Your Mother. This made me love it more!
Ok, one last video. The trailer. If you don't want to see the film, or don't want it spoilered in minimal trailer-y ways, don't click it.
Or, (better) go and watch the film in full, then come back here so we can fangirl squee over it together. I am happy to discuss at extreme, sad, obsessive, musical-nerd-y length. And straw-poll for what Musicl ought to get the "big ol' movie" treatment next? You all know my vote goes for Miss Saigon, right? Or, failing that, Wicked? Come on, Hollywood. Make it happen.
WICKED! I need that to be on the big screen!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed it as "Les Mis" is my favourite musical. I've heard some bad reviews here since it began and so I haven't seen it yet though I intend to. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteCabin Pressure - Brilliant! Glad you're enjoying the new series.
ReplyDeleteLove that clip with the HIMYM cast.
I haven't seen Les Mis yet waiting for Marc to have a free Wednesday so we can Orange Wednesday it. Looking forward to it though I've seen some mixed reviews.
